  • In February, we will be collecting Peanut Butter and Jelly for the AVAC food bank. Please put donations in the bins at the back of the sanctuary. Besides the monthly donation requests, Feminine products, and gluten free and sugar free products are always needed, as these are not available through the Greater Pittsburgh Food Bank.
  • Donut Sunday!!! March 8, 2020, immediately following worship service.  Join us for a time of fellowship with one another.  Meet us in the “Home Builder’s Room” located directly across from the sanctuary.
  • Community Lenten Services/Soup and Sandwich LuncheonWednesday March 11, 2020. Rev. Robert Walker will be bringing the message.
  • America for Christ Offering. There is still time to give.  Please feel free to donate any Sunday in the month of March.  This year’s America for Christ Offering theme is “Love thy Neighbor–Matthew 22:39”.  Giving to the American Baptist Home and Missions Society will allow ministry to be expanded to our neighbors.  As a result of our giving, the ABHMS ministers to families that have lost homes to floods, to children living lives of limitation in poverty, to seminarians preparing to devote their lives to Sharing the Good News, and many more.
  • Camp Judson.  We are gearing up to send children to camp at Judson (on Lake Erie) this summer.   FBC encourages children to experience a week of Biblically based fun, fellowship and faith building in the great outdoors. Because this is such an awesome discipleship tool, First Baptist Church pays most of the cost, and we encourage those members who are able, to support this important ministry with their contributions to the camp fund.
  • Children’s Nursery.  There is an unmanned Nursery on the second floor for children under the age of five accompanied by a parent. However, children of all ages are encouraged to remain in the sanctuary during the worship service.  There are coloring pages and activity papers on the table at the back of the sanctuary if needed.

AVAC

  • Bowling Event FundraiserMarch 8, 2020.  Wildlife Lodge Road, Lower Burrell.
  • Count for Easter food baskets.  March 30, 2020.
  • Volunteers are always needed and welcome at the Food Bank (1913 Freeport Rd., Natrona Heights, 15065).  Wednesdays are the busiest days because that is when most people pick up their food. The first and third Wednesdays are when large truck loads of contributions from the Greater Pittsburgh Food Bank arrive and must be unloaded and shelved. From 9 AM to 11 AM we sort, and shelve contributions (from Nov. thru March we pre-bag so there is no waiting in the cold, but from April thru Oct. people can shop through.) and from 1:30 to 5:30 we assist those who come to collect food and we bag orders and restock shelves as needed.  On the 2nd and last Thurs. of each month between 12 noon and 2 PM our Seniors collect their food and Senior Boxes.  On the 1st and 3rd Thurs. people can register for the Food Bank and then collect their food between 9:45 on Sunday September AM and 1:30 PM.  Thursdays are slower, but volunteers are needed each day. Do your share to stamp out hunger in the Allegheny Valley.
